Overlap: audiovisual artists, Michael Denton & Anna McCrickard create AV performances, Music, VJ Sets, transitional paintings and installations, performed and exhibited from Glastonbury to the V&A.

Their melodic minimalist music is designed to augment imagery. Inspired by landscape in all its forms, the working process involves adding and removing layers, degrees of opportunism and systematized chance, creating generative combinations ranging from slow transitional paintings, to fast flowing AV sets.

Limited editions/NFT’s of Overlap’s ongoing multi loop projects, centring upon infinite variants of transitional landscapes and melodic minimalist music are available on SeditionArt, Bandcamp, SuperRare & Makersplace. Writing and performing the music score for Kevin Thomas’ True Love (Once Removed) (best short film Palm Springs and Houston Film Festivals, qualifying for Oscar nomination), and were commissioned to write soundtracks for Playstation’s Soul Calibur and fire safety commercials

2023: Modulated Horizon : 24 iterations on SeditionArt. There’s a soft sequential symmetry in these landscapes. Every sixteen bars a recurring audio motif triggers a new horizon.

Trespass an audiovisual installation in the Oriental Room, Fenton House,  Hampstead, Summer. A temporary addition to the Fenton House picture collection, contained within an old guilt frame and initially looking like a black and white photograph that mirrors the view from the Oriental Room of Fenton’s North lawn and its charming statue of a shepherd from 1735, merits closer inspection by visitors.

2010: Anna May Wong: Stilled in Film National Portrait Gallery, London. Transported from her starring role in EA Dupont’s 1928 classic, “Piccadilly”, into a landscape of gradually changing backgrounds – a slowly moving portrait in a gallery of stills.

BMX Beats commission, Lancashire County Council/ New Cultural Journeys, premiere, 53 Degrees Preston. Interactive live audiovisual performance with content triggered by strategically positioned lasers, forming a BMX controlled music video environment projected onto the ramps and surrounding screens.
